Now the bulk of my headaches are out of the way (touch wood) I intend to begin commentating more about actually living in the building and the processes, pragmatics and possibilities that it presents.
I am of the belief that current social trends are leading to a less sustainable [economically, environmentally and socially] future and that microhousing has the potential to address this condition. Current architectural discourses concerning microhousing focus on its empirical aspects and its tangible benefits such as the potential for energy and resource savings, instead of perhaps the more potent, intangible benefits, such as residential wellbeing and happiness. LIVING.SMALL.TASMANIA [LST] is a collection of thoughts, stories and reflections, which aim to investigate the intangible benefits which living in microhousing may present.
My name is David Parsons and I am currently studying for my Masters in Architecture with Honours in the UTAS School of Architecture and Design. Part of the academic requirements for the Honours program is research into a topic of our choice. I have chosen Microhousing, a field I am greatly interested in and wish to pursue in my professional career.
Any contributions are warmly welcome. Please feel free to make comments, or email me with ideas, links, similar projects or anything else which may be relevant.
